jammin' to zep
well hi there...

i call my self sistergoldenhair on the Web because it's my handle good buddy. you've found your way to my homepage--> a place where i talk candidly about my experiences and involvement with the net. as one of the original webgrrls in new york city since 1994, i've been "spinning since the beginning" and spending my time chatting, surfing, sending e-mail, moderating forums, developing content, defining terms, giving speeches, analyzing trends, producing Web sites, project managing, e-commerce consulting, sizing up the international market, checking out the industry scene, writing, interviewing, crusading in the high-tech industry, and going virtual...
hey, welcome to one girl's online world 0*-)

what do i do?

many things, but in terms of a career, i am an entrepreneur and founder of the award-winning website NetLingo.com - it is a dictionary of online jargon that is considered a standard for Internet-related terminology. online since 1995, it grew to be ranked #656 in Google's Top 1000 Web Sites. it's also considered one of the top three Web sites ever in the online dictionary genre. so, i'm a lexicographer: one who edits a dictionary ;-) i appear on tv and radio programs as an online language expert and Internet specialist, and i contribute to news organizations worldwide, including the BBC, The New York Times, and William Safire. it was published as a book in 2002 and sold 10,000 copies worldwide.
here is some of the press coverage. one of the most rewarding aspects about my writing is hearing from grateful people all over the world who are thankful to have this kind of information explained in layman's terms, "as if I'm describing this stuff to my mother." doing this kind of work is a passion of mine, it is something that rewards me in return and something i can always wrap my next entrpreneurial dream around -- like the day when it morphs into a customized version for an international organization like the U.N., and gets translated into many foreign languages in order to educate people worldwide about the Internet -- content matters.

i work...

i've worked on NetLingo.com part-time ever since the Web became a commercialized product in 1995. during that time i've also worked full-time at some of the most recognizable names in the Internet industry. i specialize in content development, writing and editing, online marketing and project management. my professional site is erinjansen.com, it contains my resume and my client list, and here's my bio.

and i travel...

one of my personal contributions to the net comes by way of UponArrival - an online *pub of info* for Americans who live in a foreign country and want to learn about culture shock. good fortune allowed me the opportunity of living in big cities across America and Europe and i studied cross-cultural adaptation en pursuant to my masters degree at the London School of Economics. when i first became a writer, i was published in Paris, and i got certified and gave cross-cultural workshops with the information contained herein. it is an academic contribution and my way of fulfilling the international netizen purpose. i love to travel. i've been to every state in the U.S. and 38 countries. i'm particularly fond of traveling to wine regions to expand my knowledge of food, wine and culture. A recent highlight was the 5-week pilgrimage across Northern Spain while walking the The Camino to Santiago!
